Pushing Past the Pain of Rejection

Rejection is something that I have encountered many times. It is crucial to develop a mindset that filters out negative thoughts because our thoughts can be incredibly powerful, and pessimistic ideas can stunt our growth. I remind myself that rejection is a part of the journey and does not define my creativity or talent. Even the most successful filmmakers in the industry have faced rejection numerous times before making it to the top. Therefore, maintaining a positive outlook and self-belief is essential for dealing with rejection in the film industry.

Comparing myself to others in the industry is also detrimental to achieving my goals. Every filmmaker has their unique creative style, and it is essential to focus on what sets me apart from others. I try to work on my strengths, such as shooting in natural light. For instance, I enjoy going out to trails and trying to create a story through nature. Additionally, I take the initiative to create commercials with my coworkers at my day job, which helps me to build a portfolio and practice my craft. Instead of focusing on why some people get more work than me, I focus on improving myself, and I keep pursuing my unique creative style. With persistence, hard work, and a positive mindset, I believe that I can achieve my goals as a filmmaker, and eventually, someone will appreciate my work, and job opportunities will start coming my way.
